The 14-screen Xscape Theatres complex is opening Friday in Blankenbaker Station near Middletown, a cinema project offering the latest in sophisticated technology and audience comfort.
The parent company, Patoka Capital based in New Albany, Ind., has invested about $15 million in the theater complex located on seven acres, right off Interstate 64 at 12450 Sycamore Station Place, behind the Sam's Club.
The cinemas will show first-run features and be competitively priced with other area movie houses, said Scott Bagwell, operations chief for Patoka Capital.
The location offers "perfect exposure" and is in the center of a densely populated suburban area that has lacked a nearby cinemas, Bagwell said.
All the theaters will have stadium-style, leather reclining seats, and several of them will have gigantic, 70-foot screens. The theaters also offer what is called 4K digital projection. The complex can accommodate birthday groups and other private functions.
